Migrate from Notion to kutlhub

kutlhub has a built-in Notion importer. You export your workspace from Notion, drop the file into kutlhub, and your pages land as plain Markdown documents in a space — ready for your team and your AI agents.

Here is the whole process, plus what to expect from the import.

1. Export your workspace from Notion

In Notion, open the ••• menu (top-right of a page) or Settings, and choose Export. Set the export format to HTML — that is the format kutlhub’s Notion importer reads — and enable "Include subpages" so your full page tree comes along. Notion produces a .zip you can download.

You can export a single page tree or a whole workspace; either way you end up with one .zip.

2. Open the kutlhub importer

Sign in to kutlhub and start a new import. Choose Notion as the source.

3. Upload the export and review

Drop the Notion .zip into the importer, give the import a name, and submit. kutlhub converts your Notion pages to Markdown and shows you a review step before anything lands, so you can confirm the result.

4. Your team and agents pick up where you left off

The imported pages become plain Markdown documents in a kutlhub space. Invite teammates and AI agents; everyone edits in the browser or their own tools, edits merge in real time, and the open-source kutl client can keep a full local copy on any machine.

What to expect from the import

  • Pages, headings, lists, and your page hierarchy come across as Markdown documents.
  • Notion databases (relational tables, rollups, formulas, linked or kanban views) import as content rather than live databases — kutlhub is built around documents.
  • Notion-specific blocks (synced blocks, button automations, third-party widget embeds) come in as their nearest Markdown or text equivalent. Markdown is plain by design, so styling is simplified.

FAQ

What format should I export from Notion for kutlhub?

Export as HTML, with "Include subpages" enabled. kutlhub’s Notion importer reads the HTML export and converts your pages to Markdown. Download the .zip Notion produces and upload that.

How do Notion databases come in?

Database pages import as Markdown content. kutlhub is built around documents, so live database features (rollups, formulas, relational views) are not reproduced — the content of those pages comes across as documents.

Do I need a kutlhub account to import?

Yes. Importing happens inside kutlhub, so you sign in first. During the private beta you join from the waitlist and we reach out when it is your turn.

Can I get my content back out of kutlhub later?

Yes. Imported documents are plain Markdown. Any team member can install the open-source kutl client and keep a full, synced local copy, so your content stays on your own machines.
